OKMD is free and open source, released under the MIT licence. That licence governs your use of the app, and it is shorter than this page. What follows is the plain-English version of it.
What you can do
Use it for anything, including at work and for commercial purposes. Copy it, change it, build something else out of it, and distribute what you make. The only condition is that you keep the copyright notice and the licence text with any substantial copy of the code.
It is not distributed through the App Store
OKMD is downloaded directly from GitHub, so Apple’s standard app licence does not apply to it and no purchase is involved. The app is not signed with an Apple developer certificate, which is why macOS asks you to clear the download the first time — see support.
No warranty
The app is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. It edits and saves files on your computer, so keep backups of anything you would mind losing, as you would with any editor. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for lost or damaged files or for any other loss arising from using it.
Third-party code
OKMD bundles a markdown parser, a syntax highlighter and an HTML-to- markdown converter, and is built on Electron. Those carry their own licences, reproduced in THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.md.
Changes
These terms may change with a new version of the app. The current version always lives at this address.
