OKMD · last updated 14 August 2026

OKMD does not collect any data.

The app has no network connection. It contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no crash reporting, and no third-party services of any kind. It does not check for updates. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to. You can verify all of this rather than take my word for it — the source is public, and there is not a single network call in it.

Your documents

The files you open stay where they are on your Mac. OKMD reads them when you open them and writes them when you save. Nothing is copied, uploaded, indexed, or sent anywhere, and the developer has no way of seeing what you write.

Information stored on your device

The only thing OKMD stores is a list of the files you have opened recently, so the start screen can show them. It is a small file called recents.json in the app’s own folder at ~/Library/Application Support/OKMD. It holds file paths and nothing else, never leaves your Mac, and can be cleared from the start screen at any time. Deleting the app and that folder removes it completely.

Purchases

There are none. OKMD is free, there is nothing to buy inside it, and no payment information is ever involved.

Children

OKMD is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
